Sebahattin Arslantürk: Trabzon ranks first in hazelnut exports

In the January-July period of 2025, 161,756 tonnes of hazelnuts were exported from Türkiye, generating 1.348 billion dollars in foreign currency inflows. Compared to the same period of the previous year, these exports decreased by 5 percent in quantity and 2 percent in value.

Sebahattin Arslantürk, Deputy Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB) Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee, commented on the matter, stating that the country exported to 116 different countries in the first seven months of the year, with the top five export destinations being Germany, Italy, France, Poland and Spain.

Arslantürk stated that 296,289 tonnes of hazelnuts exported during the 11 months of the hazelnut export season, which began in September, generated 2.43 billion dollars in foreign currency inflows. He noted that exports surged by 4 percent in quantity and 12 percent in value compared to the same month of the previous year.

Providing information on hazelnut exports from Trabzon province, Arslantürk announced that 49,345 tonnes of hazelnuts exported from Trabzon in the first seven months of 2025 generated 434.075 million dollars in foreign currency inflows. Compared to the same period of the previous year, exports decreased by 4 percent in quantity and 2 percent in value. “Trabzon ranks first in hazelnut exports with 32 percent of hazelnut exports from the country between January and July 2025,” he said.

Noting that during the 11-month period of the 2024/2025 export season, he added, “86,090 tonnes, equivalent to 762,569,000 dollars, were exported from Trabzon province, a 14 percent increase in quantity and a 25 percent increase in value compared to the same period in the previous season.”
