YAĞCI: WE HAVE A SAY IN NON-WOOD FOREST PRODUCTS ACROSS THE WORLD

Press release…

Cahit Doğan Yağcı, Chairperson of the Aegean Furniture Paper and Forest Products Exporters’ Association, said, “When we examine the overall export performance of the three sectors we represent, our exports, which were approximately 4.5 billion in the first 9 months of 2020, rose to 5.8 billion dollars in the same period of 2021.”

Non-wood forest products

Cahit Doğan Yağcı stated that they represent three sectors under one roof and examined, “When we evaluate the overall export performance of the three sectors we represent, our exports, which were approximately 4.5 billion in the first 9 months of 2020, reached 5.8 billion dollars in the same period of 2021. This increase of 28 percent in our sectors is our source of pride. When we look at the Aegean Region, we showed a rise of 13 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, with an export of 595 million dollars in the first 9 months of 2021.”

ABOVE AVERAGE…

Pointing out that the unit price of the products they sell in all the sectors they represent is above Turkey’s average in export dollars, Yağcı added, “As the Aegean region, we believe in competition in products, not in price. If we need to look at our sectors one by one, first of all, in the non-wood forest products sector, 60 percent of Turkey’s exports of approximately 140 million dollars are realized by the Aegean region exporters.”

“While the average unit price per kg in Turkey is 1.38 dollars, the average unit price per kilogram in the Aegean Region is 3.15/kg dollars. There is almost 2.5 times difference between them. It is important for us that our product is exported at its value and that it finds its value. In the non-wood forest products sector, we have products such as oregano and laurel in which we have an important say in world exports, we carry out the necessary works to solve the problems faced by our members, take initiatives to the relevant authorities, defend the rights of our members and try to solve their problems. At the same time, we work together with our farmers to sell our products at its value,” Yağcı concluded…
