VEYSEL MEMIS: EXPORT TO FAR MARKETS INCREASES THE UNIT PRICE IN CEREALS AND PULSES

Veysel Memiş, Chairman of the Mediterranean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association (AHBİB), announced that they achieved an export of 158.2 million dollars in April, providing an increase of 29 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Veysel Memiş also stated that they achieved the highest performance in the rate of increase in export unit prices in Turkiye in the first 4 months of the year and said, “The record-breaking surge in our sales performance in distant markets with our quality products has a great role in the rise in our export unit value.”

“We exported pulses, pastry products and sugar the most”

Evaluating AHBİB’s exports in April according to product groups, Chairman Memiş explained, “In the fourth month of the year, we exported pulses products with an rise of 73 percent and a value of 50.2 million dollars. The share of legumes in our exports was 32 percent. Our export revenue in pastry products, which we achieved an increase of 32 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, was 36.8 million dollars. In sugar and sugar products, we achieved an export of 17.9 million dollars with an increase of 17 percent. Constituting 18 percent of our regional exports with a value of 28.1 million dollars in April, red lentils continued to be the product we exported the most. The rate of increase we achieved in red lentils, which became the export champion this month, was 155 percent.”

Veysel Memiş added that AHBİB’s exports between January-April 2022 soared by 42 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 675.1 million dollars and the region’s exports in the last 12 months reached the level of 1.82 billion dollars with a boost of 42 percent.
