“EXPORT TARGET OF TURKIYE’S AGRIFOOD INDUSTRY IS 40 BILLION DOLLARS”

Stating that they have been carrying out the TURQUALITY Project with the support of the Ministry of Trade for 3 years in order to boost the demand for Turkish food products in the US market, Aegean Exporters’ Associations Vice Chair Hayrettin Uçak said, “We will hold a promotion event for Turkish Cuisine and food products during the New York Summer Fancy Food Show Fair, with the participation of the representatives of Las Vegas University and Nevada Restaurant Association, with whom we collaborated in the TURQUALITY Project.”

Expressing that they have prepared a reference book called Turkish Tastes in order to increase the awareness of Turkish food products in the US market, Uçak explained, “Turkiye is the food warehouse of the world with its product variety grown in 7 regions in 4 seasons. By introducing these riches to the world, we aim to increase our food exports, which is currently 24 billion dollars, to 40 billion dollars. While achieving this goal, the USA stands out as the export market where we can grow the fastest.”

While Turkiye exported 834 million dollars of food products to the USA in 2020, it soared by 36 percent to 1 billion 134 million dollars in 2021. Members of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EİB) have received a share of 331 million dollars from this export amount. While confectionery products, fruit juices and milling products stood out in exports from Turkiye to the USA, canned goods, frozen foods, aquatic products, dried fruits and olive oil came to the fore in exports from the Aegean Region to the New World…
