All Milk, Meat and Cattle Breeders’ Association (TÜSEDAD) issued a statement upon the speculative news in the press for a few days as ‘Milk powder regulation has been stopped’.
Underlining that these news do not reflect the truth, TÜSEDAD said, ‘Milk powder regulation continues.’
In the statement made by TÜSEDAD, it is said, “As you know, after the raw milk purchase prices have recently been reduced by the milk industrialists by citing the problems they have experienced in demand, taking into account the meetings and initiatives of our Board of Directors at the ministerial level, initiatives have been taken by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to defend the legal rights of our producers within the scope of Type Contracts. Before this important step, the state’s purchase of milk powder (milk powder regulation), which is frequently and successfully applied all over the world, was put into effect in order to prevent the raw milk prices from falling. In recent days, there has been news in various media organisations that the milk powder regulation implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry through ESK has been stopped. These news are completely unfounded and the regulation will continue to be implemented until 31 December 2024.”
In the statement made by TÜSEDAD, the following opinions were also given: “The basis of this practice is that the unions and cooperatives, which are faced with a decrease in the milk price in their region, start by making a request for milk powder quota for that province to the Provincial Directorates of Agriculture and the central organisation distributes the total quota for the province depending on the amount of milk they collect to the unions and cooperatives in question. At this stage, Turkish Meat and Milk Institute (ESK) steps in and directs the milk for milk powder production by contacting the milk powder production facility closest to that region. In this practice, the recommendation price for hot milk with 3.6% fat and 3.2% protein, as stated by the National Milk Council (USK) in the purchase price of raw milk, is 14.65 TL/litre. This is the amount that will be received by the produce, and if cooling, transport and other current expenses are covered by the producer, these expenses will be paid additionally to the producer. In addition, a difference of ±22 kurush will be applied for each dizyem (0.1 change) in the base oil and protein ratios. This information has been confirmed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. For this reason, we strongly announce that you should not rely on the news in the press that the milk powder regulation has been cancelled.”
