Turkiye’s aquaculture and animal products exports to Uzbekistan reached 17 million dollars in 2021

Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association participated in the 21st International Food, Ingredients and Food Technologies Fair (UzFood 2022), held in Uzbekistan on 29-31 March, with an info stand.

Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association Chairperson Bedri Girit said that Turkiye is among the top 5 countries with which Uzbekistan has the most foreign trade.

Girit said, “In 2021, Turkiye’s exports to Uzbekistan amounted to 1 billion 647 million dollars with an increase of 65 percent. In 2021, we have 63 million dollars of agricultural exports to Uzbekistan. Our exports of aquaculture and animal products jumped by 328 percent in 2021, reaching 17 million 749 thousand dollars. Our goal is to boost this figure to 20 million dollars. Our milk and dairy products sector is the most exporting sub-sector with an export amount of 1 million dollars. In the January-February period of 2022, our exports of aquaculture products and animal products reached 1 million 344 thousand dollars.”

Reminding that the fishery industry has exceeded 3.5 billion dollars and achieved its 2023 target, Girit added, “We moved our 2023 target to 4.2 billion dollars. We can only reach new targets with new markets. It is aimed that the trade volume of our country with Uzbekistan will reach 5 billion dollars in 2022. We had chosen the Turkish Republics as the target market in order for Turkiye to reach its goals by gaining new markets in exports.”

“For the last 4 years, we have been intensively continuing our promotional and marketing activities in Uzbekistan. This year, a total of 137 companies from 16 different countries participated in the UzFood Fair. Nearly 3,000 people visited the fair. Turkey participated in the UZFOOD Fair with 37 companies,” Girit concluded.

Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association participated in the Uzfood Fair organized by ITECA Exhibitions at the NEC Uzexpocentrefair centre in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, between 29-31 March 2022 with a 30 m2 info stand.

At the fair, Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association was represented by Melih İşliel, Member of the Board of Directors and Haluk Taktak, Member of the Supervisory Board of the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association.
