TURKIYE’S CEREAL AND PULSE EXPORTS SURPASS 9 BILLION DOLLARS IN 9 MONTHS…

Turkey’s cereals and pulses exports reach 9.2 billion dollars…

The cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products sector exported 9 billion 205 million 576 thousand dollars in 9 months of the year.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Southeastern Anatolia Exporters’ Associations (GAİB), the Turkish cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products sector sent 10 million 603 thousand 984 tonnes of products to 217 countries and free zones in 9 months of the year.

The exports of the sector, which earned 9 billion 205 million 576 thousand dollars in return for exports, soared by 35.31 percent in quantity and 11.89 percent in value compared to the same period last year.

The sector exported the most to Middle Eastern countries with 3 billion 120 million 433 thousand dollars. The Middle East was followed by Africa with 2 billion 49 million 88 thousand dollars and Europe with 1 billion 511 million 186 thousand dollars.

While Iraq ranked first in the country-based exports of the sector with 1 billion 501 million 542 thousand dollars, Italy ranked second with 637 million 801 thousand dollars and the USA ranked third with 519 million 365 thousand dollars.

Exports to Italy soared by 1400 per cent…

The sector’s exports to Italy surged by 1400 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Ahmet Tiryakioğlu, Chairman of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Sector Board, stated that exports in the sector gained momentum.

Explaining that exports are important for the sector, Tiryakioğlu said:

“Our exports have increased significantly both in value and quantity. Countries that bought our products less in the past have started to buy more now. Italy is an example of this situation. Our exports approached 10 billion dollars. We are satisfied with our exports and the exports of our sector and we will work to further increase the success.”

“The potential of our country is high and the products are of high quality. The level of our exports in the coming periods will make everyone happy,” he added…
