75 percent of exports originate from the Aegean region…
Muhammed Elçiboğa, a board member of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, stated that Türkiye has been the world’s largest producer of pickles for the past nine years.

Elçiboğa noted that Turkish pickles are becoming increasingly widespread globally, with growing consumption. He explained that they are regarded as high-quality products, utilized by fast-food chains and recognized as a fast-moving consumer good within European Union countries.
Pointing out that the Turkish pickle sector competes effectively in the global market, Elçiboğa said, “Turkish pickles are valued for their quality and the consistency of their supply, though consumption patterns vary from country to country.”
Highlighting Türkiye’s significant experience in pickle production, Elçiboğa added:
“During this period, our exports have reached nearly 302 million dollars, with 75 percent of this total originating from the Aegean region. We are situated on highly fertile land, a rarity globally, that allows for three to four harvests per year. A tremendous amount of effort goes into the entire process, from the initial seed stage to the moment the final product reaches the supermarket shelf. Our export target for the end of the year is 500 million dollars. While exporting raw vegetables is valuable, adding value by processing them into jars and exporting them to approximately 130 countries worldwide is far more significant and creates much greater added value.”
