Türkiye and Cuba want direct foreign trade!
Dr. Alejandro F. Diaz Palacios, Ambassador of Cuba to Ankara, who is the Special Guest of Izmir International Fair, visited Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) with the accompanying delegation and 15 company representatives.
Ambassador Dr. Alejandro F. Diaz Palacios, who stated that they import Turkish products through Spanish and Italian distributors and export to Türkiye through Spanish and Italian companies, said that they would like to establish direct contact with exporter companies in Izmir and that they would like to develop foreign trade with Türkiye.
Eskinazi: We hope that Cuba’s visit to Izmir will pave the way for direct trade
Jak Eskinazi, Coordinator Chair of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB), stated that Turkish businesmen export to Cuba, but that these exports are through Spanish distributors, that they want them to import from Turkish companies instead of Spanish distributors and that they hope that the Cuban delegation’s visit to Izmir will pave the way for direct sales of Turkish products to Cuba.
Eskinazi also informed that Türkiye’s exports to Cuba soared by 300 percent from 29 million dollars to 88 million dollars in the January – August period of 2024 and said, “In order to boost foreign trade between Türkiye and Cuba, we will work for the participation of Turkish exporters in the fair held in Havana, the capital of Cuba, in 2025.”
