TURKISH OLIVE EXPORTERS CONCENTRATE ON SMALL PACKAGES…

Davut Er said that Turkish olive exporter concentrates on small packages.

Stating that Turkish olive exporters tend to export table olives in small packages, thus preparing the ground for more value-added exports, Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association (EZZİB) Chairman Davut Er said, “This season, although our exports were 7 percent less on amount compared to the 2018-19 season, we achieved a 3 percent increase in dollar terms. It is revealed in the studies of scientists that the herbal squalene substance in olives strengthens the immune system. We expect an increase in demand for table olives in the coming period. In the 2020-21 season, we are targeting 200 million dollars in table olive exports by focusing on value added products ”

Olive oil export season ends at the end of October…

Expressing that while Turkey’s 2019/20 season of table olive exports completed at the end of September, olive oil exports season to be ended in October, Davut Er noted, “We made an olive oil export of 110 million dollars in 11-month period of 2019-20. We anticipate that our table olive exports will surpass our olive oil exports in the 2019/20 season. Turkey has reached to 177 million trees planted after 2002. So olive oil yields will increase in the coming years and our exports will catch the target of 1.5 billion dollars in medium-term.”

Germany, Iraq and Romania preferred Turkish olives the most…

Davut Er concluded, “While people of 123 countries prefer Turkish olives, Germany was at the top with a Turkish olive demand of 42.5 million dollars. Table olive exports to Iraq, one of the traditional export markets of Turkish exporters; It was 25.6 million dollars. Romania entered the list in third place with Turkish olive imports of 18.3 million dollars.”
