TURKEY EXPORTS 5.5 BILLION DOLLARS OF CEREALS, PULSES AND OIL SEEDS IN 8 MONTHS…

In the January-August period of this year, 5 billion 579 million 520 thousand dollars of cereals, pulses, oil seeds and their products were sold abroad from Turkey.

Mahsum Altunkaya, Chair of the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TİM) Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Sector Board, said in his written statement that Turkey is an important export base for the Middle East.

Pointing out that Turkey sends food to many countries in the world, Altunkaya said, “In 8 months of this year, 5 billion 579 million 520 thousand dollars were exported from Turkey in cereals, pulses, oil seeds and their products. Our exports soared by 21.17 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. Vegetable oils, biscuits-pastry, wheat flour, sugar and sugar products and pasta are the leading products that are exported the most.”

Stating that the sector exported to 213 countries and free zones in the January-August period, Altunkaya added, “Our goods, which are produced in the fertile lands of Anatolia, have been exported to all over the world. The most exports have been made to the Middle East, Africa, America and European Union countries. In country-based exports, Iraq maintains its position as the country with the highest exports. Yemen, Iran, Djibouti, Libya, Germany, Venezuela and Israel followed this country. In the meantime the most exports in the sector are realized by GAİB (Southeastern Anatolia Exporters’ Associations) member companies.”
