Press release…
More than 40 percent of Türkiye’s approximately 4 billion cereal exports to Middle Eastern countries originate from Southeastern Türkiye, while the region’s share in the 2.9 billion dollars cereal exports to Africa has risen to 37.2 percent.

Celal Kadooğlu, Chair of the Southeastern Anatolia Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters Association, stated that increasing geopolitical risks, climate-related supply fluctuations and fragility in supply chains are transforming food products into a strategic security issue. He evaluated the 2025 results with the following words:
“New international balances highlight countries that can simultaneously manage price stability and market continuity; Türkiye, with its production capacity, geographical location and strong industrial infrastructure, is becoming one of the important actors in this transformation. Financing costs that pressure company profitability, exchange rate disadvantages and fluctuations in global demand are leading our exporters towards a more resilient, diversified and value-added competitive approach that goes beyond short-term volume targets. In this context, the cereals sector continues to be a strategic balancing element for the Turkish economy thanks to its production scale, continuity and strong integration with industry.”

“As a matter of fact, our sector demonstrated this dynamism with concrete data, maintaining its leading position within GAİB (Southeastern Anatolia Exporters Association) with a 29.7 percent share in 2025. Of course, it is important to remember that due to Southeastern Anatolia’s special location on trade routes, our exports are shaped not only by global demand conditions but also by geopolitical developments in the nearby region,” he said.
Pointing out that as the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TİM) Syria Desk, they have taken significant steps to ensure that bilateral trade, which accelerated after the regime change in Syria, is established on an institutional and sustainable basis, he noted, “We have carried out studies that will benefit all our sectors. The fact that the grain sector is one of the areas that has benefited most from the normalization of relations between the two countries is a development that once again confirms the strategic role of the sector.”
