SETBİR EXPECTS A CHANGE IN FOOD PRICES!

İsa Coşkun, Chair of the Turkish Dairy, Meat, Food Industrialists and Producers’ Association (SETBİR), said that taking into account the intense competition in our sectors, it is inevitable that there will be changes in costs and prices depending on the developments in exchange rates.

İsa Coşkun stated that the rapid rise and fluctuations that took place before the decrease in exchange rates in the last period caused a hike in prices in sectors such as raw materials, packaging, energy and logistics.

Emphasizing that this situation causes difficulties in terms of every link of the supply chain from farm to fork in the meat and dairy sector, Coşkun reminded that as milk and meat industrialists, it is not always possible to reflect every increase in costs to prices due to the structure of the sectors.

Recalling that the high spikes in the exchange rate were withdrawn with the economic measures announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Coşkun said: “We consider this as a positive development in terms of seeing our sectors ahead.”

“Considering that most of the costs in the meat and dairy sector are based on foreign currency, the stability of the exchange rates is critical for ensuring predictability. Taking into account the intense competition in our sectors, it is inevitable that there will be changes in costs and prices depending on the developments in exchange rates,” Coşkun added…
