Honey, one of Türkiye’s important export products, sweetened palates in 37 countries, primarily the USA, the UK and Germany, in the first six months of the year.

According to information compiled by an Anatolian Agency (AA) reporter from data provided by the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB), Türkiye, which has a climate suitable for beekeeping, recorded honey exports of 3,615 tonnes in the first six months. This export generated revenue of 15,764,889 dollars.

During this period, honey was sold to 37 countries, primarily the USA, the UK and Germany.

Between January and June, 5,042,659 dollars worth of honey was exported to the USA, 2,178,874 dollars to the UK and 1,954,561 dollars to Germany.

Unlike the same period last year, honey sales were also made to Syria, Denmark, Sweden, Liberia and Cape Verde during this period.

“We aim to bring Turkish honey to consumers in more countries”

Selçuk İskender, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB), told an Anatolian Agency (AA) reporter that a successful performance was achieved in honey exports in the first half of the year.

Expressing satisfaction with the continued demand, especially in traditional markets such as the USA, the UK and Germany, İskender noted that the export of honey to new countries this year shows that the awareness and preference of Turkish honey in international markets has increased.

İskender also emphasized that their expectations for the second half of the year are also positive, saying, “If the current momentum in production and exports is maintained, we aim to surpass last year’s figures in both export volume and foreign exchange earnings by the end of the year. Thanks to the quality and reliability of Turkish honey, we aim to enhance our share in existing markets and also open up to new markets.”

Pointing out that they have focused on activities aimed at promoting Turkish honey, İskender added, “We aim to bring Turkish honey to consumers in more countries by boosting the export of value-added and branded honey.”
