Sebahattin Arslantürk: Hazelnut exports soared by 40 in the first half of 2024

In the first six months of 2024, hazelnut exports from Türkiye reached 144 thousand 694 tonnes and 1 billion 170 million 96 thousand dollars of foreign currency inflow was provided in return and an increase of 10 percent in quantity and 40 percent in value was experienced in 6-month exports compared to the same period of the previous year.

Sebahattin Arslantürk, Vice President of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB) Hazelnut and Products Sector Committee, who made evaluations on the subject, stated that exports were made to 124 countries from the country in the 6-month period and that the first 3 countries with the highest exports were Germany, Italy and France, which are Türkiye’s traditional export markets and that there was a high rate of spike in the exports to the People’s Republic of China, which ranked 5th.

Giving information about hazelnut exports on a periodic basis, DKİB Hazelnut and Products Sector Committee Vice President Sebahattin Arslantürk said, “The hazelnut exports made in the 10-month period of the 2023/2024 season were 259 thousand 452 tonnes and in return, foreign currency inflow was obtained in the amount of 1 billion 976 million 442 thousand dollars and that the amount of exports remained the same compared to the same period of the previous year, but a spike of 25 percent in value has been achieved.”

Highlighting that in the first 6 months of 2024, 43 thousand 792 tonnes of hazelnut exports from Trabzon province realised and in return for 373 million 168 thousand dollars of foreign currency inflow was provided, Arslantürk added, “Moreover on the basis of the export season, approximately 32 percent of the total hazelnut exports were carried out from Trabzon province.”
