Hayrettin Uçak, Chair of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, stated that Turkish food exporters have ramped up their exports to Japan by 75 percent in the last five years, from 209 million to 367 million dollars.
“We expect Türkiye’s food exports to Japan to make a new breakthrough thanks to the collaboration with Otsuma Women’s University,” he said.
Highlighting that Türkiye is the world’s food warehouse,” he noted, “We offer Japan a wide range of flavours, from fruits and vegetables and fruit and vegetable products to seafood, dried fruits, grains, pulses, oilseeds, non-timber forest products, olives and olive oil. Chef candidates studying gastronomy at Otsuma Women’s University will graduate with a mastery of Turkish cuisine through this project. They will incorporate Turkish flavours into their professional careers.”
“Our exports from the Aegean Region to Japan soared by 42 percent in 2024, from 89 million to 126 million dollars. We have initiated a successful collaboration that will boost Turkey’s food exports to Japan to 1 billion dollars in the medium term,” he added…
