Ömer Celal Umur: Tobacco exporters managed to close 2025 with an 8.4 percent hike

Ömer Celal Umur, Chair of the Aegean Tobacco Exporters Association, stated that the tobacco and tobacco products sector managed to close 2025 with an 8.4 percent hike in exports across Türkiye, reaching 1.06 billion dollars.

“In 2025, we exported tobacco and tobacco products to a total of 112 countries, with our top five export destinations being Iraq, the United States, Belgium, Iran and the United Arab Emirates. We managed to significantly ramp up our exports to our important export markets, the United States, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia. Throughout 2025, agricultural production in Türkiye faced serious challenges due to the increasingly severe negative effects of the climate crisis. In this difficult year, as a sector, we believe that we have made a significant contribution to our country’s agricultural sector with an average export price of over 9 dollars per kilogram and annual exports of 1 billion dollars,” he said.

“As the Aegean Tobacco Exporters Association, we are aware of the risks in agricultural production and therefore always place sustainability at the centre of our work,” he added…
