Olive oil, referred to as golden liquid, was exported like gold in the 2023/24 season. Emre Uygun, Head of Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association (EZZİB), announced that the average export price of olive oil was 4.64 dollars in the 2022/23 season, while in the 2023/24 season, it increased by 54 percent in dollar terms to 7.16 dollars.
“While the decline in olive oil exports on a quantity basis reached 52 percent, the decline in foreign exchange earnings was limited to 29 percent thanks to the spike in the average export price,” Uygun said.
Export target for the 2024/25 season is 200 thousand tonnes…
Informing that Türkiye will be the second in the world after Spain with an olive oil yield of 475 thousand tonnes in the 2024/25 season, Uygun added, “We aim to export 200 thousand tonnes of olive oil in the 2024/25 season in order to turn the yield into added value and to ensure that our producers get the return for their efforts.”
USA is the leader in olive oil exports…
In the 2023/24 season, Türkiye exported olive oil to 120 countries, with the United States at the top with 135 million dollars. Spain ranked second with 110 million dollars, while 42.8 million dollars worth of golden liquid was exported to Italy.
In the 2023/24 season, exports to Japan, one of the export markets where the Turkish olive oil sector has gained strength in recent years, soared by 19 percent from 28 million to 33.5 million dollars. Olive oil worth of 15.7 million dollars was exported to Saudi Arabia, one of the country’s traditional export markets in the olive oil sector. Russia demanded 14 million dollars worth of Turkish olive oil, while 7.7 million dollars worth of golden liquid was exported to Germany, 7.4 million dollars to Portugal, 6 million dollars each to Brazil and Australia…
