Köklü Zeytincilik (Olive), one of Türkiye’s largest olive oil exporters and an international flavour award-winning olive oil company, held an olive tree sapling planting event for a green future together with children, the guarantee of the future, on 23 April.
Ayvalık-based Köklü Zeytincilik, one of the top 5 companies exporting the highest amount of olive oil in the country, held an olive tree sapling planting activity in the olive grove in Türkiye’s western province of Balıkesir’s district of Ayvalık Murateli with the students of Pollyanna Kindergarten in Ayvalık on 23 April.
In the event, which took place together with the children who are the guarantee of the future, the children planted the saplings special to their names with their own hands. Within the scope of the event, Mustafa Kürlek, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Köklü Zeytincilik (Olive), gave a brief information about the olive tree to the children. After the olive tree sapling planting, a special cake specially made for 23 April was cut for the children at Köklü Zeytincilik Murateli Store and the children had fun accompanied by Turkish flags.
Making a statement on the subject, Mustafa Kürlek stated that for a sustainable future, they think that their children should know where the origin of the food they eat comes from.
“Every year, we come together with children within the framework of 23 April and plant olive tree saplings with them. Within the framework of these activities, we also give a brief information to the children about olive trees, olives and olive oil. With the idea that ‘the tree bends at an early age’, (as the twig is bent so is the tree inclined) we all need to pass on our knowledge about agriculture and food to our children. They will definitely carry this knowledge they have acquired into their own lives,” Gürlek said.
“Happy 23 April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day to all our children.’ Within the scope of the event, children were given olive jam and olive oil soap with toys to increase their hand washing habits,” Gürlek added…
