Türkiye’s exports of stuffed vine leaves—one of the most important delicacies of Turkish cuisine and the crown jewel of the dining table—rose by 36 percent in the first five months of 2026, from 9.5 million to 13 million dollars. The Aegean Region accounted for 80 percent of the country’s total exports, with exports of stuffed vine leaves amounting to 10.4 million dollars.
Türkiye’s stuffed vine leaf exports had also risen by 35 percent in 2025, climbing from 17.2 million to 23.2 million dollars.
Three out of every four boxes of stuffed vine leaves exported bear the mark of Aegean exporters.
Muhammet Öztürk, Coordinating Chairman of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations and Chairman of the Aegean Cereals, Pulses and Oilseeds Exporters’ Association, who highlighted that the Aegean Region is driving the country’s stuffed vine leaf exports, emphasised that the Aegean Region accounted for 76 percent of Türkiye’s total exports with 17.6 million dollars worth of stuffed vine leaf exports in 2025 and that Aegean exporters were responsible for three out of every four boxes of stuffed vine leaf exports.
Noting that the increase in stuffed vine leaf exports from the Aegean Region during the January–May period of 2026 exceeded the national average, Öztürk said, “As the Aegean Region, we enhanced our stuffed vine leaf exports by 48 percent during the January–May period of 2026, from 7 million dollars to 10.4 million dollars. Our share of the Aegean Region’s stuffed vine leaf exports has reached 80 percent.”
