MESUT ERGÜL: THIS YEAR’S EXPORT TARGET OF LEZITA IS 125 MILLION DOLLARS

Lezita General Manager Mesut Ergül stated that after Turkiye started exporting white meat to Japan, it continued its search for a new market and said, “The new market opportunity that emerged with the UK’s departure from the EU is being evaluated, and studies are being carried out on the potential of the Philippines and India.”

In his statement, Ergül made evaluations about both the white meat sector and the company’s latest investments.

894 MILLION DOLLARS OF WHITE MEAT EXPORT TO 93 COUNTRIES…

Mesut Ergül stated that chicken meat production in Turkiye soared by 5.1 percent in 2021 compared to the previous year and reached 2 million 245 thousand 770 tonnes and that the annual turnover of the white meat industry, which ranks 10th in the world, is approximately 5.5 billion dollars. He said that it directly and indirectly contributes to the livelihood of approximately 3 million people.

Providing information on the exports of the white meat industry, Ergül noted that 894 million dollars of white meat exports were made in 2021 with an increase of 54.2 percent, and that Turkiye is the 7th in the world in international white meat trade.

Ergül explained, “Last year, the exports of the white meat sector reached 632 thousand tonnes. The export was 539 thousand tonnes in 2020 and 503 thousand tonnes in 2019. In the white meat sector, exports were made to 93 countries last year, resulting in a foreign currency return of 894 million dollars. Almost half of the sale was made to Iraq.”

OUR 2022 EXPORT TARGET IS 125 MILLION DOLLARS

Mesut Ergül added that as Lezita, they exported to more than 50 countries, reached a turnover of 75 million dollars in exports in 2021 and that they were the leader in exports in the practical chicken products category.

Emphasizing that their target in white meat exports is 125 million dollars this year, Ergül concluded, “We will further expand our claims in exports with the facility investment in Kahramanmaraş province, which will double our production capacity.”
