Flower honey produced in hives built in the highlands of the Erdemli district of Mersin region has won three awards in competitions in France and England.
Selahattin Say, who produces flower honey on the Uzunkuyu Plateau at an altitude of 2,300 metres in the Taurus Mountains, participated in the Paris International Honey Awards in France and the London International Honey Awards in England.
The flower honey produced in the Taurus Mountains has been awarded two gold and one silver medals in the competitions.
Selahattin Say told an Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter that they won the award by beating competitors from 60 countries in the competitions.
Highlighting that their goal is to become known worldwide, he said, “We earned these awards thanks to the high-quality honey production my ancestors brought to us five centuries ago. We will pass this quality on to future generations. As a beekeeper who produces gold-medal honey, I’m happy. This will continue.”
