On the occasion of World Coffee Day, the Turkish Agricultural Diplomacy Group (TTDG) brought together industry representatives at an event organised at the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM).

Melisa Mutlu, Chairwoman of the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TİM) Agriculture Committee and also TTDG Board of Directors, Kazım Taycı, Chair of the Istanbul Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters Association (İHBİR), Murat Kolbaşı, Chair of the Board of Directors of Arzum Inc.; Tuncer Akgün, CEO of Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi; Sema Güral Sürmeli, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Kütahya Porselen and gastronomy expert Osman Serim, along with TTDG members and media representatives, celebrated World Coffee Day on 5 December.

In their speeches, the participants shared valuable views and suggestions, emphasising that Turkish coffee is not just a beverage but one of Türkiye’s most powerful symbols in terms of conversation, diplomacy, cultural heritage and social memory. They emphasised the importance of transforming World Turkish Coffee Day from a thematic event into a working platform that produces concrete results and has a strategic direction and stressed that unity of discourse and action is needed in the international promotion of Turkish coffee and that producing concrete results from this meeting would be particularly meaningful in this context.

Yıldız Güven, head of the TTDG Gastronomy Working Group, stated that they had decided to establish a joint working table on Turkish coffee with the participation of industry representatives, academics and relevant institutions, and announced that they would be undertaking a much more detailed study on this subject in the coming days.
TTDG Board Chairwoman Melisa Mutlu said that Turkish coffee is part of the cultural heritage and a traditional symbol of Turkish cuisine.
“With this meeting and the strategic steps we will take to ensure Turkish coffee achieves its rightful place worldwide, we are opening the door to a new era,” she noted…
