In the first month of the 2023/2024 hazelnut export season, which started on 1 September 2023; hazelnut exports from Türkiye reached 24 thousand 344 tonnes and 151 million 780 thousand dollars of foreign currency inflow was provided in return.
Mehmet Cirav, Chairman of the Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), who made evaluations on the issue, said that the export of 151 million 780 thousand dollars with a hike of 12 percent in September compared to the same period of last year and the export of 85 countries from Türkiye in the first month of the export season is a good development for the sector.
Cirav said, “The first 3 countries with the highest exports are Germany, Italy and France, which are our traditional export markets.”
Giving information about hazelnut exports on an annual basis, DKİB Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee Chairman Mehmet Cirav noted that the hazelnut exports made in 9 months of 2023 were 193 thousand 305 tonnes and that 1 billion 209 thousand dollars of foreign currency inflow was provided in return.
Cirav also emphasised that due to the inflationary pressures that started in the export markets in the past years and continued their effects, the demand contraction was reflected in the export figures and predicted that buyers will continue to be cautious in their orders due to this situation…
