In January 2026, 13,000 tonnes of hazelnuts were exported from our Türkiye, generating foreign exchange earnings of 180,835,000 dollars. Compared to the same period last year, this represents a 47 percent decrease in volume and a 13 percent decrease in value.

In his assessment of the matter, Mehmet Cirav, Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB) Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee, stated that exports were made to 72 different countries from the country in the first month of the year and that the top 5 countries to which exports were made were Germany, Italy, France, Spain and Switzerland, respectively.
Cirav explained that in the first five months of the hazelnut export season, which began in September, 77,856 tonnes of hazelnuts were exported, generating 973 million 26 thousand dollars in foreign exchange. He also noted that compared to the same period last year, exports decreased by 51 percent in volume and 25 percent in value.
Providing information about hazelnut exports from Trabzon province, he said, “In the first month of 2026, hazelnut exports from Trabzon amounted to 1,906 tonnes, generating foreign exchange earnings of 26 million 734 thousand dollars and that compared to the same period of the previous year, there was a 74 percent decrease in export volume and a 59 percent decrease in value. Trabzon ranked third in hazelnut exports, accounting for 15 percent of the hazelnut exports from our country in January 2026.”
“In the first five months of the hazelnut export season, 10,105 tonnes worth 125,976,000 dollars were exported from Trabzon region, representing a 77 percent decrease in volume and a 68 percent decrease in value compared to the same period of the previous season,” he added…
