In the January-November period of 2024, hazelnut exports from Türkiye reached 289 thousand 910 tonnes and 2 billion 353 million 534 thousand dollars of foreign currency inflow was obtained in return. When these export realisations were compared with the same period of the previous year, an increase of 15 percent in the amount of hazelnut exports and 45 percent in value has been achieved.
Mehmet Cirav, Chairman of the Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), who made evaluations on the subject; he stated that exports were made to 125 different countries from the country in the 11-month period and that the top 5 countries to which the most exports made were Germany, Italy, Poland, France and the People’s Republic of China, respectively.
Emphasizing that Black Sea region’s leading province of Trabzon ranks 1st in hazelnut exports, Cirav noted that 31 percent of the total hazelnut exports in the 11-month period were carried out by Trabzon province alone.
Pointing out that in the first three months of the 2024/2025 export season, 215 million 567 thousand dollars worth of exports were made in return for 24 thousand 449 tonnes and that there was an increase of 40 percent in quantity and 87 percent in value compared to the same period of the previous season, Cirav added, “I sincerely congratulated our hazelnut exporters and producers who almost doubled the foreign currency they brought to our country by achieving this great success compared to last year.”
