In January 2024, there was a high rate of increase of 18 percent in quantity and 46 percent in value amount in the first month in hazelnut exports, which was realised as 206 million 553 thousand 327 dollars for 26.916 tonnes.
Mehmet Cirav, Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB) Hazelnut and Products Sector Committee, said that hazelnut exports started the year 2024 with a good increase rate.
Stating that it is their greatest wish that hazelnut exports close the year with an upward trend, DKİB Hazelnut Sector Committee Chairman Cirav said, “Our exporters, who are trying to fight for survival under the pressure of financing costs, high loan interest rates and limited access to finance in addition to the cost increase pressures, are worried due to the very slow recovery in the European Union markets, which is the largest market of the sector and the downward revision of the growth rates in the European markets by international organisations.”
