Mehmet Ali Işık, Chair of the Aegean Dried Fruit and Products Exporters’ Association, announced that their aim to maintain their global leadership in dried fig production and exports. saying,
“We are continuously working to ensure the healthy and sustainable continuation of our exports to the European Union, our largest export market. In early October, we met with officials from the European Commission’s Directorate General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE) in Brussels to assess the official controls implemented on dried fig exports and current developments in food safety. We shared the monitoring, prevention and control efforts we have implemented to prevent aflatoxin and ochratoxin formation in dried figs with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Ministry of Trade, institutes, universities, traders, and producers in Türkiye. We believe that thanks to the measures we have taken ahead of the 2025/26 season, we will have a much more successful season. We are entering the new season with an export target of 65,000 tonnes and 400 million dollars,” Işık said.

Dried fig exports to the US surged both in volume and foreign exchange earnings…
Pointing out that Türkiye exported dried figs to 97 countries in the 2024/25 season, with the United States leading the way with 84.5 million dollars, Işık added, “Thanks to the positive impact of the Turkish Tastes TURQUALITY Project, a program implemented by the Aegean Exporters’ Association to promote Turkish food products in the US market, dried fig exports to the US surged by 2 percent in volume to 15,067 tonnes, while foreign exchange earnings jumped by 43 percent, from 59 million to 84.5 million dollars.”
Dried fig exports to France soared by 30 percent, from 33.2 million to 43.2 million dollars. Germany, with a 32 percent spike in demand, imported 42 million dollars worth of Turkish dried figs. Canada followed with 17 million dollars and Italy with 14 million dollars…
