Mehmet Ali Işık: Turkish dried fruit sector generated 1.7 billion dollars in foreign exchange revenue

Mehmet Ali Işık, Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) Organic Products and Sustainability Coordinator and Chair of the Aegean Dried Fruit and Products Exporters’ Association, stated that the dried fruit sector, one of Türkiye’s most strategic sectors, has generated 1.74 billion dollars in net foreign exchange revenue for the country thanks to its strong production infrastructure and position in global markets.

“Despite a 6 percent decline in our exports compared to 2024, we see it as our top priority to manage the current challenges, maintain the competitiveness of our sector and ensure sustainable production and export growth,” he said.

Pointing out that as the Aegean Exporters’ Associations, they have achieved exports worth 1.05 billion US dollars, accounting for 60 percent of total dried fruit exports, he noted, “Of the main export items, 496 million dollars were earned from seedless dried grapes, 316 million dollars from dried figs and 140 million dollars from dried apricots.”

“In 2026, sustainable production, adaptation to climate change, food safety and branding will remain among the key priorities of our sector,” he added…
