JAK ESKINAZI: WE CANNOT SET A TARGET FOR 2023!

Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) achieved an export of 18 billion 300 million dollars in 2022 with a hike of 12 percent. While 9 of 12 exporting associations ramped up their exports, 3 associations lagged behind their last year’s performance.

At the 2022 export performance evaluation meeting, Aegean Exporters’ Associations presents an image that “2023 will be a “Lost Year” for the exporters and the country.

EIB Coordinator Jak Eskinazi said that they cannot set a target for 2023!

“Our target will be to ‘protect our assets’. Today’s exchange rate supports imports, not exports. The only remedy for our country not to experience this negative atmosphere will be an increase in exchange rates,” Eskinazi said.

“Despite all the negativities, we signed an export of 18 billion 300 million dollars”

“The year 2022 was a year when the effects of the pandemic decreased and we regained our physical possibilities. As exporters, we made a rapid transition to physical fairs, trade delegations, purchasing committees and customer visits. At the 2021 evaluation meeting we held last year, we set an export target of 18 billion dollars for 2022. In 2022, despite the war between Russia and Ukraine in our nearby geography and all other negativities, we achieved an export of 18 billion 300 million dollars by working like a bee. As the Aegean Region, our exports boosted to 31.5 billion dollars,” he added…
