ISMAIL YILMAZ: TURKIYE EXPORTED 145 MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF FLOWERS IN 2022

The ornamental plants and products sector exported approximately 145 million dollars to 85 countries last year.

Türkiye, which has more than 3,500 endemic plant species in its flora, sells abroad cut flowers, indoor and outdoor plants, bulbs, seedlings, saplings, wreaths and moss groups.

Extending the export season to 12 months with greenhouse and highland production, the floristry sector sends products to 85 countries, primarily European countries.

İsmail Yılmaz, Chairperson of the Ornamental Plants and Products Exporters’ Association, announced that they completed the year with Christmas wreaths in ornamental plant exports.

Stating that after the feverish work in November and December, 3 million wreaths were sent to all over the world, mainly in the Netherlands, England, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Romania and Bulgaria, Yılmaz said, “We generated approximately 10 million dollars in revenue from these sales.”

Yılmaz also added that in the same period, besides the New Year’s wreaths, approximately 7 million dollars of carnations were exported…
