Hayrettin Uçak, Chair of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, stated that Türkiye produces over 61 million tonnes of fresh fruit and vegetables annually and that the sector’s exports exceed 6 billion dollars. “Despite natural disasters and cost increases, we maintain our export figures in the Aegean Region,” he said.

The Interfresh Eurasia Fair, recognized as Türkiye’s export project and reportedly contributing 200 million dollars to exports since its inception, opened with a ceremony.
Murat Özer, General Coordinator of AntExpo Inc., the fair organizer, stated that the fair, which took place during a challenging period for the fresh fruit and vegetable sector, marked by agricultural frosts and rising costs for exporters, attracted a 1,050-person purchasing delegation from over 70 countries, including representatives of chain markets.
Pointing out that Türkiye produces over 61 million tonnes of fruit and vegetables annually, encompassing over 100 varieties and that Izmir is one of the country’s most important agricultural warehouses, he noted, “Our farmers produce with the sweat of their brow and our exporters make exports with great effort, earning our country over 6 billion dollars in foreign currency annually.”
“Our Aegean Region contributes 1.3 billion dollars to this export with its products and state-of-the-art facilities. We are working in harmony with producers, exporters, local governments, civil society organizations, ministry units and universities to develop Turkish agriculture,” he added…
