Hayrettin Uçak: Turkish Tastes doubled our food exports to the USA

The TURQUALITY Project named Turkish Tastes, which was implemented 6 years ago by the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) with the support of the Ministry of Trade in order to ramp up the export of Turkish food products to the United States of America, the world leader in food imports, organised a very magnificent tasting event.

Speaking at the gala dinner, Hayrettin Uçak, Chair of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, said that when the Turkish Tastes Project started in 2018, the exports of the 6 food sectors involved in the project to the USA were 786 million dollars and by the end of 2024, the food exports to the USA reached 1.6 billion dollars, 335 million dollars of which were fresh fruit and vegetable and fruit and vegetable products.

Underlining that Türkiye has a target of 5 billion dollars in food products exports to the US, Uçak said, “With the support of our Ambassador chief who is with us in our Turkish Tastes Project, the products of our companies from the olive oil, dried fruits, spices and fruit and vegetable products sector will start to take a strong place in the US market with their own brands. In our project, we attach importance to professionals as well as cooperation with organisations. In our studies, we first inform chefs and purchasing officials at events in the USA. Afterwards, we invite them to Türkiye to ensure what we have explained.”

“In Türkiye, we introduce our products and culture in production areas, businesses, cultural venues and restaurants with the programmes we have prepared with the concept of ‘from soil to fork’. After completing the programme in Türkiye, our chefs become our ambassadors in the USA. Our aim from the very beginning was to create the Turkish Tastes Community in the USA. We are becoming a bigger family every year,” Uçak added…
