Press release…
Türkiye, which ranks first in the world in cherry production, suffered frost damage during the cold weather in March and April this year. Türkiye, which exported 67,000 tonnes of cherries in 2024, was only able to export 6,000 tonnes by the end of the cherry season in 2025.

Hayrettin Uçak, Chair of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, announced that exports fell by 9 percent to 560 million dollars in the first half of 2025.
Underlining that the main factor behind the decline in exports was the agricultural frost in March and April, he said, “The loss of up to 90 percent in the cherry harvest, in which we are the world leader in production, due to agricultural frost had a significant impact on the decline in our exports. Last year, we exported 67,000 tonnes of cherries, but this season we are around 6,000 tonnes. We can now say that the season has come to an end. You can see the loss from the decrease in exports.”
“May God not let our producers and exporters experience such a disaster again. We have truly gone through a very difficult period,” he added…
