Stating that agricultural production and access to safe food is a strategic issue, Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) President Mustafa Gültepe said, “The strategic importance of agriculture will surge even more in the future. Food and agriculture are among our most advantageous sectors in exports. In this field; we have long years of experience, a rich product diversity, advanced technology and high production capacity industrial infrastructure. We can turn these advantages into opportunities for our country.”

Organised by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), the TIM Agriculture Board Meeting was held with the participation of Deputy Minister of Trade Özgür Volkan Ağar, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Ahmet Bağcı, TIM President Mustafa Gültepe and Board President Melisa Mutlu.

At the meeting, where consultations were held on agricultural and food sector exports, an informative presentation was made by the Ministry of Trade on the ‘Overcoming Technical Barriers in Food and Agricultural Exports Project’ (GATE), which will enable all stakeholders in the sector to take simultaneous initiatives in line with the goal of overcoming the technical barriers faced in the context of countries in the ‘2025 Action Plan for Exports’.
The meeting also discussed sectoral demands for agriculture and food sector exports, and a presentation was made on the Agriculture and Livestock Sustainability Report prepared by TIM.

‘We can turn our know-how in food and agriculture into opportunities’
Speaking at the event, TIM President Gültepe said that agricultural production and access to safe food is a strategic issue. Pointing out that this has been the case throughout history, Gültepe noted, “The strategic importance of agriculture will surge even more in the future. Food and agriculture are among our most advantageous sectors in exports. In this field, we have long years of experience, a rich product diversity, an industrial infrastructure with advanced technology and high production capacity. We can turn these advantages into opportunities for our country.”
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Trade Ağar said that strategic steps were taken by the Ministry of Trade together with the sector with the aim of both opening new markets for exporters and enhancing our competitiveness in existing markets in order to bring agricultural products exports, which increased by 5.4 percent in 2024 to approximately 32.6 billion dollars, to a stronger position.
Ağar also added that the Ministry continues to work with all relevant stakeholders, especially the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, to ensure the sustainable increase of agriculture and food sector exports without leaving the focus on food supply security…
