Ferhat Gürüz: We will showcase the strength of Turkish fresh fruit and vegetables at the Berlin Fruit Logistica Fair

Press release…

Ferhat Gürüz, Chairman of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, announced that Türkiye’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports reached 3.7 billion dollars in 2025, a 9 percent increase compared to the previous year.

‘80 percent of our total exports are concentrated in 20 countries’

Stating that the sector is focusing on maintaining its position in the neighbouring geography while making the market structure more balanced, Ferhat Gürüz said that the top 20 markets by country account for approximately 80 percent of total exports.

“Russia maintained its position as the market with the highest exports in 2025. We exported 865.1 million dollars to this country. Following Russia, which had a 23 percent share, came Iraq with a 114 percent spike and a value of 838.7 million dollars and Romania with a 1 percent increase and a value of 290.8 million dollars,” he said.

Pointing out that the data for the top 20 countries shows that Türkiye’s export geography has maintained its focus on nearby markets, but that the distribution by country has become more balanced, he added, “Eastern Europe, the Balkans and Russia continue to form the backbone of exports, while value-based spikes have outpaced volume increases in some markets. Our goal for the coming period is to enhance depth on a country-by-country basis, creating a structure that both spreads risk and increases value in fresh fruit and vegetable exports.”

Highlighting that the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association will participate strongly in the Fruit Logistica International Fruit and Vegetable Trade Fair, to be held in Berlin, Germany, between 4-6 February 2026, with its 23rd national participation organisation this year, he concluded, “The event, which will feature 38 leading companies from across Türkiye, will serve as a global showcase for the Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable sector. By the way, Turkish exporters will be brought together in the D-11 pavilion, covering an area of 128 square metres and that our country’s fresh fruit and vegetable products will be promoted at the information stand to be set up in Hall 27.”
