FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLE EXPORTS SOARED, MEDITERRANEAN MAINTAINED ITS LEADERSHIP…
Ferhat Gürüz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, announced that Türkiye’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports reached 3.7 billion dollars in 2025, a 9 percent increase compared to the previous year. Ferhat Gürüz stated that the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, which coordinates and provides secretarial services for the fresh fruit and vegetable sector, recorded exports of 1.73 billion dollars, an increase of 12 percent and that they continued to be the leader nationwide with a 45 percent share of the sector’s exports.

“2025 was not an easy year for the sector. Despite the impact of climate change on production patterns, logistics costs and fluctuations in global demand, we managed to hiked our exports. While there were changes in fresh fruit and vegetable exports in terms of volume throughout the year, we maintained our export revenues and supported the sector’s long-term competitiveness thanks to a value-oriented approach and market diversification,” he said.
“Tangerines account for 25 percent of fresh fruit and vegetable exports”
Assessing the sector’s annual export performance by product group, Gürüz noted, “When we examine fresh fruit and vegetable exports for the January-December 2025 period by product, the top 20 product data clearly shows us that unit value and market quality have become as decisive as quantity in fresh fruit and vegetable exports.”

Highlighting that the tangerine product group maintained its clear leadership position in annual exports, Gürüz added, “Reaching a value of 912.6 million dollars in 2025, tangerines were the most notable product in terms of both quantity and value. With a 34 percent spike in export volume and a 92 percent spike in export value, tangerines accounted for 25 percent of total fresh fruit and vegetable exports. Despite a 38 percent decline in volume, lemon exports reached 402.4 million dollars, representing a 13 percent spike in value.”
“Similarly, while the volume of tomato exports, worth 401.1 million dollars, declined, the loss in value was limited. The decline in volume for some products indicates that the supply-demand balance and price stability are beginning to be established more healthily,” he concluded…
