In the January-September period of 2021, 1 Billion 59 Million 707 Thousand 495 USD exports were realized from Trabzon, Rize, Artvin and Gümüşhane provinces, which are under the jurisdiction of the General Secretariat of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Associations (DKİB) and the exports realized in the same period of the previous year (2020 January-September) were 974 million 234 thousand 273 USD), an increase of 9 percent has been experienced.
In the first 9 months of 2021, there was a 2 percent increase in the exports of Trabzon and 45 percent in the exports of Rize, while the highest rise was experienced in the exports from Gümüşhane with a 60 percent.
While there has been a 5 percent decrease in the exports of Artvin Province, this is due to the low demand in fresh fruit and vegetable exports to Georgia, the most important market of the province, compared to previous years.
In the first 9 months of the year covering the January-September period of 2021 from provinces of Trabzon, Rize, Artvin and Gümüşhane, the sectors with the highest exports in agriculture and food are respectively; Hazelnuts and Products with an export of 531.551.531 USD, Fresh Fruits and Vegetables with an export of 143.480.924 USD and Aquaculture with an export of 84.697.021 USD.
Making evaluations on the subject, Saffet Kalyoncu, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of DKİB, emphasized that it is a proud development that the exports from the region exceeded the 1 Billion dollars limit in 9 months of the year and that the exporters of the region are proud of this success despite the intense competitive environment in foreign markets and cost pressures at home.
Kalyoncu also stated that they are hopeful that the region’s exports will close the year with a good export performance.
