Spain, Italy and France top vegetable producers in EU last year…
The EU harvested 62.2 million tonnes of fresh vegetables, up 6 percent year-on-year in 2024, Eurostat data showed on Monday.

Spain was the top producer country with 14.8 million tonnes, followed by Italy with 13.9 million tonnes and France 5.8 million tonnes.
In 2024, the EU’s harvested production of several key vegetables increased compared to 2023; tomato production was 5 percent up, carrot production was 6 percent and onion production was 11 percent higher.
The EU’s production of fruits, berries and nuts (excluding citrus fruits, grapes and strawberries) was 24.3 million tonnes, down 2 percent on a yearly basis.
The main producers of fruits, berries and nuts in the EU were Italy (5.4 million tonnes), Spain (4.3 million tonnes) and Poland (4.1 million tonnes), which accounted for a combined 57 percent of the EU’s production.
The EU’s harvested production of apples was 11.6 million tonnes in 2024, a majority of which came from Poland (29 percent), Italy (21 percent) and France (17 percent). EU production in 2024 was 4 percent lower than in 2023…
