Eskişehir Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Emine Sever said that Eskişehir ranks second across Turkey in seedbed sunflower production.
Dr. Sever visited the cultivation areas and the purchasing centre during the harvest of seedbed sunflower belonging to a private company in Çifteler district.
Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Emine Sever, in a statement after the visit, said, “A private company that started seedbed sunflower production in Eskişehir province since 2016 in Körhasan and Dikmen neighborhoods of Çifteler district has reached 15 thousand decares of cultivation area as of this year.”
Dr. Sever said that the company exported all of the seedbeds produced here to many countries, especially Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan and employed 200 people, mostly women, during the production season.
Dr. Sever also stated that the workers are employed by taking all kinds of occupational health and safety measures.
Pointing out that while seedbed production is made in 127 thousand 500 decares across Eskişehir province in 2020, Dr. Sever added, “Eskişehir takes the second place in Turkey with the seedbed sunflower production in 38 thousand 808 decares.”
