The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry banned 16 pesticides (plant protection products) used to prevent diseases and harmful organisms from damaging the crop in June.
It added 9 more pesticides to this list on 5 August 2020.
7 pesticides; It decided to restrict the usage areas until the re-evaluation in December 2021.
Stating that Agriculture and Forestry Ministry has announced this decision to 81 provinces with a circular, Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Chairman Birol Celep said, “The number of pesticides, prohibited and has a restricted usage since 2009, reached 220 in Turkey.

Underlining that consumer demands shape food production worldwide, Celep noted, “The number of consumers who want to eat healthy food is rapidly increasing globally. With the pandemic, the trend towards healthy food has increased even more. We have been producing food for the world with organic farming and good farming practices for about 35 years.”
Pointing out that the agricultural products export of the Aegean Region has exceeded 5 billion dollars in the last year, Birol Celep made the following assessments, “We aim to export 10 billion dollars of agricultural products in the medium term with the driving force of the Agricultural Specialized Organized Industrial Zones, which is about to be implemented in Dikili district in the Aegean Region. On the other hand the moves of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry regarding healthy food production strengthen our hands in world markets.
