The Aegean Exporters’ Association (EİB) established the “EİB Spice Technical Committee”

The Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters’ Association (EMKOÜİB) established the “EİB Spice Technical Committee” to ensure the export of spices, which complement the flavours of the tables, with greater added value and healthier quality, ensure technical compatibility with Turkish export markets in spice exports and effectively represent the Turkish spice sector at the international level.

Ali Fuat Gürle, Head of the Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters’ Association, stated that a significant portion of the country’s181 million dollars spice exports from January to October 2025, totaling 111 million dollars, were accounted for by members of the Aegean Exporters’ Association. He emphasized that Türkiye is also a global leader in oregano (thyme) and bay laurel exports.

Gürle stated that in Aegean Region’s province of Denizli, where oregano production is concentrated, producers in the districts of Tavas, Kale, Pamukkale and Buldan, in collaboration with the Denizli Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and export companies that are members of EMKOÜİB, held discussion meetings.

“The EİB Spice Technical Committee will collaborate more intensively with producers in the coming period. We are in a period where global demand for healthy food is at its peak. We must produce in line with consumer demands. We will increase overall production quality in coordination with our producers, provincial and district directorates of our Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and confidently market our products in the export markets,” he said.

Oregano and bay laurel account for 54 percent of spice exports…

Türkiye exported 181 million dollars worth of spices between January and October 2025, with oregano ranking first with 56.5 million dollars. Bay laurel followed with 41.6 million dollars and these two products accounted for a 54 percent share of our total spice exports.

Sweet red pepper generated 17 million dollars in foreign currency revenue, while sumac exports generated 10 million dollars and sage generated 9.3 million dollars. These products were followed by cumin with 7.3 million dollars and rosemary with 5.3 million dollars.

While the United States maintained its top spot in spice exports with 26.6 million dollars, Türkiye exported 10.9 million dollars worth of spices to Germany. Poland came in third with a spice demand of 3.5 million dollars…
