In January 2024, Türkiye exported 1.1 million tonnes of basic food products, mainly biscuit-pasta, wheat flour, vegetable oils, sugary and cocoa products and pasta, generating 1.03 billion dollars in revenue.
The sector, which ramped up its export revenues by 5.4 percent in January compared to the same period last year, increased its share in Türkiye’s total agricultural exports to 33 percent.
Ahmet Tiryakioğlu, Chairman of the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM) Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Sector Board, announced that the total exports of the cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products sector in January, which includes basic food products such as biscuits and cakes, wheat flour, vegetable oils, sugary and cocoa products and pasta, totalled 1.03 billion dollars.
“The sector, which exported 1.1 million tonnes in January, ramped up its export revenues by 5.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and increased its share in total agricultural exports to 33 percent,” he said.
“The provinces with the highest exports in the sector were Istanbul, Gaziantep and Mersin, while the countries with the highest exports were Iraq, the USA and Syria,” he added…
