Logistical advantages and processing facilities in the region play a role in increasing seafood exports.

Raising quality standards in seafood, increasing the share of processed products, and strategies for opening up to new markets are the focus of the new year’s plans.

Production planning and cold chain infrastructure are among the priority issues for more effectively utilizing the region’s seafood potential.

With these efforts, the aim is to boost sustainable market diversity and boost export volume in the new year.

“We want to utilize the potential more effectively”

Ahmet Hamdi Gürdoğan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB), told an Anatolian Agency (AA) reporter that they have high targets for seafood exports from the region in the new year.

Stating that they want to utilize the region’s aquaculture potential more effectively, Gürdoğan noted that this year’s export figures are at the same level as last year.

Gürdoğan expressed high expectations for aquaculture exports, saying, “We have targets to increase our export figures in aquaculture. We believe that an Organized Industrial Zone for Aquaculture should be established, along with related processing facilities and a clustering model.”

Gürdoğan mentioned that they mainly export to the Asian market, primarily Russia, and continued:

“To ramp up our export potential, we want to enter the Chinese, American and European markets more through our UR-GE (International Competitiveness Development) projects. In this context, we are conducting studies in areas where our products can reach. As a result of these studies, we are also seeking new markets in America. Within the scope of this UR-GE project, our companies will participate in trade fairs.”

Gürdoğan stated that they also participate in trade fairs in the Middle East market and added that they are conducting R&D studies on the island fishing model implemented by Japan…
