Aegean exporters introduced Turkish agriculture to 39 countries at Halal Expo…
Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB), which is at the peak of agricultural exports in Türkiye, ramped up its agricultural exports by 17 percent to 6.6 billion dollars in the last one-year period.
Aegean Exporters’ Associations, which introduced Turkish agriculture at the 9th Organization of Islamic Cooperation Halal Expo Fair, attended by nearly 500 companies from 40 countries on 24-27 November, participated in the Fair with a 36 m2 info stand.
Pointing out that 7 of the 12 exporters’ associations within the body of EIB are clusters of agricultural products exporters, Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association Chairman of the Board Bedri Girit said, “The Aegean Region carries out about 25 percent of the country’s agricultural products exports alone. We are the export leader of Türkiye in aquaculture, raisins, dried figs, olives, olive oil, fruit and vegetable products, spices, non-wood forest products. Germany, the USA and the United Kingdom are in the top three in our agricultural exports to 168 countries. Halal Expo plays a key role in boosting our foreign trade with MENA (Middle East and North Africa) countries. We are participating in the Halal Expo Fair for the second time with our 7 agricultural associations.”
Emphasizing that the Aegean Region is a pioneer in organic production, export and sustainability, Girit also announced that 6 agricultural associations within the body of EIB have started the Sustainability UR-GE (Product development) project.
“The halal market has a volume of 7 trillion dollars in the world. We both tasted the agricultural products of which Türkiye is the world leader in production and export and gave information about our sustainability projects to foreign buyers from 39 countries that dominate the halal market in the world. According to the last year’s data of the EIB, our agricultural exports increased by 17 percent to 6.6 billion dollars. The intense interest we encountered at the fair showed that we are very close to our 10 billion dollar agricultural export target,” he added.
