TURKEY’S ‘BIODIVERSITY MAP’ CREATED…

Within the scope of the National Biological Diversity Inventory and Monitoring Project initiated by the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks (DKMP) Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in 2013, 13,409 plant and animal species have been identified at approximately 852,644 coordinated points.

According to the information compiled from the data of Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Turkey reserves a rich biodiversity because of having three different plant geography like Europe, Mediterranean and Iran-Turan regions.

Various projects have been implemented, such as carrying out national inventory and monitoring studies that will serve the conservation and sustainable use of this diversity and creating databases on biological diversity in this respect.
