October, 2026…
The Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association increased its exports by 15 percent in the first nine months of 2026, reaching a total of 1.509 billion dollars. Achieving 193 million dollars in exports in September, the Association became the monthly export champion for the first time in its history under the umbrella of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations. Ufuk Atakan Demir, Chair of the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association, stated that their goal is not merely to reach the summit, but to anchor themselves there.

The fisheries and animal products sector, which has distinguished itself through its export performance over the last quarter-century, is enhancing its weight in the Aegean Region’s exports. Having surpassed the 2 billion dollars mark in rolling 12-month exports for the first time in August, the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association became the monthly export leader among the 12 associations within the Aegean Exporters’ Associations for the first time in September, thanks to its 193 million dollars export figure.
During the January–September period of 2026, the Association ramped up its exports by 15 percent compared to the same period of the previous year—rising from 1.313 billion to 1.509 billion dollars and set a new record.
“Our goal is to anchor ourselves at the top”
Ufuk Atakan Demir, Chair of the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association, highlighted the sector’s 25-year transformation, noting the pride felt in becoming the top-exporting association within the Aegean Exporters’ Associations for the first time this September.
“Our fisheries and animal products sector, which ranked last among the Aegean Exporters’ Associations with 50 million dollars in exports in 2001, has evolved into an industry achieving an export volume exceeding 2 billion dollars today. While we accounted for a 1.8 percent share of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations’ total exports in 2001, we have now reached 15.3 percent. This success is the result of our production capacity, the entrepreneurial spirit of our exporters and our competitiveness in international markets. The leadership position we achieved in September marks a significant milestone. However, our goal is not merely to reach the summit, but to anchor ourselves there. We extend our gratitude to all the exporters who contributed to this success,” he added…
