İbrahim Yumaklı: We will continue to work with the Ministry of Trade from wheat to flour and from flour to bread

In a meeting between Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat and Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı with representatives of the grain sector, the harvest season, expected to yield the highest harvest in the history of the Republic, was discussed. The meeting, which addressed the Turkish Grain Board’s (TMO) market regulation efforts and sector expectations, also focused on how to maintain market balance in the supply chain, from wheat to flour and from flour to bread.

The Grain Sector Consultation Meeting, attended by Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı and Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, addressed the current state of the grain sector, its expectations, and assessments for the upcoming period.

“No problems in the supply of agricultural products”

Speaking at the meeting held at the TMO, Minister Yumaklı announced that a bountiful harvest season, shaped by the labour and sweat of producers and expected to yield the highest harvest in the history of the Republic, is nearing its end and that the country’s production power and self-sufficiency in strategic agricultural products have been demonstrated once again. Yumaklı emphasized that efforts to ensure the sustainability of agricultural production, support farmers and strengthen food supply security are being continued with determination.

Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat stated that there are no supply-related problems in agricultural products, that production has surged as a result of abundant rainfall and stable policies and that the strategic importance of agricultural production is being better understood every day. Bolat noted that the ministries are continuing their work in high coordination to ensure a healthy market and stressed the importance of sector stakeholders contributing to this harmonious work.

Following this, Ahmet Güldal, Chairman and General Manager of TMO (Turkish Grain Board), gave a comprehensive presentation on the purchasing activities carried out during the 2026 harvest season, field operations across the country, market regulation efforts, and current activities of TMO.

Dr. Ersin Dilber, General Director of Food ans Control, provided information on the regulatory and inspection activities of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

During the meeting, the views, suggestions and requests of the presidents of the National Grain Council (UHK), Turkish Flour Industrialists Federation (TUSAF) and cereal products export associations were negotiated; assessments were made regarding domestic and international markets.

“We will work together to protect market balances”

In the same statement made on their social media accounts, Minister of Agriculture İbrahim Yumaklı and Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat stated, “We are acting with an understanding that protects the hard work of our producers, supports the production power of our industrialists and ensures that our citizens have access to food in a reliable and stable manner. We will continue to work with high coordination and common sense with our Ministries along with sector stakeholders to protect market balances at every stage of the supply chain, from wheat to flour and from flour to bread.”
