Ufuk Atakan Demir, Chair of the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters Association, announced that they ramped up their exports by 13.5 percent in the last year, from 1.763 billion to 2.001 billion dollars, making them the Association with the highest export growth rate among the 12 exporter Associations within Aegean Exporters’ Associations.

Demir stated that the seafood sector made the biggest contribution to the export record with 1.596 billion dollars. “Our seafood sector accounted for 80 percent of our total exports. Sea bass continued to make the biggest contribution to our exports with 682 million dollars. Sea bream brought in 524 million dollars and Turkish salmon brought in 253 million dollars in foreign currency to our country. Our egg sector exported 169.5 million dollars, our poultry sector 137.5 million dollars, our dairy sector 39.5 million dollars and our honey sector 15.5 million dollars,” Demir said.
Highlighting that the number of countries to which they exported soared from 118 to 122 between August 14, 2025 and August 13, 2026, Demir added, “Italy became the leading country with 255 million dollars in exports. Russia, which was first last year, took second place this year with 241 million dollars in exports. Greece came in third with 236 million dollars. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the United States, Iraq, Poland, the United Arab Emirates and Germany.”
