Türkiye’s fish feed exports reached 35.4 million dollars in the first half of 2026, a 31 percent spike. Fish feed producers from the Aegean region, accounting for 86 percent of exports, are leading the sector’s growth in the global market.
Türkiye’s fish feed exports soared by 31 percent in the first half of the year, rising from 27 million to 35.4 million dollars. Members of the Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters Association contributed 30.5 million dollars to the country’s fish feed exports, representing 86 percent of total exports.
Muhammet Öztürk, Coordinator Chair of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations and also Chair of the Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association, announced that Turkish fish feed is increasingly preferred in world markets thanks to its high production capacity, use of quality raw materials and production approach in accordance with international standards. He stated that Türkiye continues its stable growth in fish feed production and export in parallel with the development it has achieved in aquaculture.
TARGET FOR 2027: REACHING 100 MILLION DOLLARS
Pointing out that the fish feed sector makes a strategic contribution to the Turkish aquaculture sector, which has reached an annual production of 626.5 thousand tonnes and an export volume of 2.4 billion dollars, Öztürk explained, “The growth in the aquaculture sector directly supports the fish feed industry. The sustainable and environmentally friendly production approach is positively received by international buyers. The feeds produced by our feed manufacturers at high quality standards both support aquaculture activities in our country and are in strong demand in international markets. The spike in exports is a concrete result of our sector’s investments in technology, R&D and sustainable production. If our sector maintains its production and export levels, we can exceed 100 million dollars in 2027 and enter the top 10 exporting countries worldwide.”
RUSSIA, TUNISIA AND UZBEKISTAN LEAD IN FISH FEED EXPORTS…
Underlining that the hike in fish feed exports demonstrates the sector’s international competitiveness, Öztürk concluded his remarks as follows: “Increased demand in many markets, primarily in the Mediterranean basin, the Middle East, North Africa and European countries, was among the key factors supporting the rise in exports. In 2026, the Russian Federation ranked first with a demand of 21.2 million dollars. We exported 3.5 million dollars worth of fish feed to Tunisia, 2.4 million dollars to Uzbekistan, 1.3 million dollars to Albania and 1.2 million dollars to Kyrgyzstan. The number of countries to which we export fish feed has reached 41.”
